Competition: Win a Philips Wake-up Light with Black Dog Tribe

Even though the days are slowly getting longer, many of us are finding it difficult to open our eyes and get out of bed in the morning. To make the waking up ritual a little bit easier, Black Dog Tribe has teamed up with Philips to give away a Wake-up Light to two lucky Tribe supporters.

The Wake-up Light has been designed to help those 2 million people in the UK and Ireland who, according to SAD.org.uk, suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) – a medical condition known to reduce energy levels, even cause depression, as a result of light deficiency.

This latest model combines the functionality of a SAD lamp with the traditional functions of an alarm clock radio. Unlike a conventional alarm clock or even mobile phone which relies on an earth-shattering sound like a fog horn to blast you out of your slumbers, the Philips wake up light does things in a slightly more civilised way.

The 'sunrise' mode means that the light comes on gently around half an hour before you need to get up by gradually increasing its intensity until you wake up naturally - much like you would if the sun shone in through the curtains. Then if you are still not awake after the sunrise period (this can be adjusted between 20 and 40 minutes), the alarm switches on. Choose between various sounds like a cow mooing in the fields or birds tweeting in the forest, or simply choose tune in to your FM radio station of choice or download various wake up tones from Philips’s website here.

The Wake-up Light retails for between £84.99 and £132.77 and you can find out more about it here.

To enter all we ask you to do is tell us in the comments below who you would most like to wake up next to tomorrow, Valentine's Day, 14th February

The competition closes on Friday 17th February 2012 at 23:59, so you can still enter after Valentine's Day.

I would like to wake up next to my wonderful boyfriend, who's been there for me through thick and thin.  He makes every day more bearable.  A wake up light would also help, mornings are the worst with the black dog! @emilyinswansea (Twitter)
