Sinead O’Connoer has established a petition to establish a head count of how many people currently residing in Ireland are feeling suicidal.
Please sign this petition (anonymously if you prefer) so that we may send to the minister for health, a 'census' of how many Irish citizens are currently feeling suicidal.
The ultimate aim is not only to have these figures, but to assess the
need for suicide prevention services to be severely stepped up, financed, and publicsised.
If we dont know who's out there feeling vulnerable, we cant help.
Theres no money in the country for a state census on the matter.
so we must do it this way.
Please be brave and be counted. You are priceless, precious and wonderful. A one in four hundred Million chance. You are loved. Even if you sometimes feel you aren't. we all have someone whose world would be shattered by the loss of us to suicide.
Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. and when you get to the other side you find a whole new set of problems. The worst of which will be the pain you will fel when you see the pain of your loved ones.
Hang in. Be counted. Seek help from suicide prevention centres. Its free. You matter. You really do.
If you do not use the Internet but would like to be counted please write a letter addressed to 'Sinead O'Connor, Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland'. Please mark your envelope with an 'X'.
