Even normal people (if there are any), don’t really know how a therapist is supposed to ‘fix’ you, so when you’re ill, you really are going to be in the dark when it comes to seeking help. There are sharks and angels in these therapy waters, talk to your people on what to look for, or hand down your recipes and help to heal each other. Meet here to compare cures.

Mental Health Assistance Dogs

Hello Everyone.

My name is Claire and I have founded an organisation to assist fellow mental health sufferers to train their dogs (subject to suitability tests) to become assistance dogs.

My fist dog Minxer who died in 2005 was my inspiration for this organisation and she saved me from myself so many times. When she died I was determined to do something to help others. Since 05, I have got 3 more dogs, all SBTs and Tilli has shown the exact qualites Minxer did. She keeps me focused and makes me get on with life as well as breaking my manic cycles.

I started this organisation in 05 and finally went public with it in 2011. I hope the organisation I have created can maybe help people here on BDT with their conditions. If you would like info please go to www.mentalhealthdogs.org.uk where we can hopefully help you.

Look forward to helping some of you x :D

Re: Mental Health Assistance Dogs

My husband was already suffering from depression when we lost our dog to old age. I found another as quickly as possible, deliberately looking for a clown, show off who liked to play. He has helped so much that I wouldn't know how to start to detail them. It can help a great deal and should be considered by animal lovers.

Dogs have to be walked & a majority of british dogs are under exercised. A walk with a dog is good for you and good for the dog. You don't have to own one. Borrow a dog!

cats too! my cat is fat and lazy and isn't a cuddle cat at all, but just seeing her mooching round the house, and meowing at me wanting food/play makes me stop and forget about myself for a while, and realise that something else is dependant on me, and couldn't do without me! i think everyone should have a pet, they're little balls of miracle
